To some people the extra blade thickness is needed and worth it. That’s like saying you will never notice the difference between a 27 and 32 inch TV, and the 32 is a terrible deal because it’s twice as much for a small percentage gain. And more than X percentage more expensive to purchase in terms of raw materials. A blade that is X percentage thicker will be more than X percentage stronger. Is a 911 a worse deal than a Z06 because of less power-per-dollar? You pay for less robots and more skilled hands.
Something the guy in camo shorts on his couch will never appreciate, but those of us who lean into our Striders with confidence understand why it’s done. Much more expensive in terms of material used, machines needed, and tool wear. Instead of doing all the G10 scales in cookie cutter fashion, the Strider G10 must be CNC’ed in every axis to remove the material of the thicker G10 and leave just the backspacer and the scale itself.
G-10 and backspacer are one piece on SnG’s / SMF’s / PT’s. My automotive engineering program obviously covered manufacturing techniques and costs. Much more goes into factoring the cost, wholesale price and retail price of a product than the actual materials in the product itself. In terms of price, I should shed some light.
